My parents have two cats that we call "The Boys." They are both rescues. If you consider "rescues" to be cats who showed up at our house one day, fell in love with my Mom and never left. Their previous owners never responded to the flyers we put around town – probably because I’ve never seen cats consume so much food.
Fidget is practically a dog. He rolls over on command, he always comes when called and is completely trusting. Kai is his protégée, though he is quite the opposite of Fidget. He ignores your commands, is skittish and generally thinks you’re up to something. But they’re inseparable.
No one cat could possibly eat more food than Fidget. You have to feed the two separately or Fidget will eat all of Kai’s food. We once lured Fidget into the middle of the pool on a boogey board because we put food on it.
So, naturally, it came as no surprise that I got this text message from my Dad.
Happy Birthday, Fidg. You giant creature, you. That's pretty gross, but I still adore you.
